Eight robberies in 11 days in Southampton and Eastleigh

An armed gang is thought to have robbed eight businesses in Southampton and Eastleigh in the last 11 days.In the latest raid, a petrol station at Rownhams on the M27 was targeted and a customer attacked, leaving them needing hospital treatment.Police said each attack involved two or three men carrying knives, hammers, poles or planks of wood.Detectives are trying to identify men captured on CCTV in Portswood Road and Mayfield Road, Southampton, on Tuesday.More on this and other stories from across the South of EnglandOn Monday 20 November two men stole money and cigarettes from Champagne Charlies in Portswood Road.On Sunday 26 November, Booze Shack in St James Road was targeted.On Tuesday, four businesses were raided – Bone Burger and Bysea Cafe in Portsmouth Road, Glitz Hair Salon in Janson Road and Co-Op in Shakespeare Road, Eastleigh.The following night, a member of staff was treated for a head injury after two men armed with a hammer raided Premier Store off Portswood Road.Appealing for help, Det Insp Damon Kennard said: “These men are threatening a high level of violence for just a few hundred pounds.”
